Well, I know this is definitely going to be the

They were so big, they took up the whole road! We got some

spiritual, i really think that they enjoyed it. I cant wait
for you guys to meet Sara in the week that comes. She owns a

as a beauty salon. She is super Pilus (Awesome) She loves to

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> This was probably the second most stressful incident
in the mission after the incident with the wedding in Leòn.
First off we had this investigator who is super awesome,
always goes to church and even stays for the classes. We put
the baptismal date for the 26 which was on a Friday, because
she didn't want to many people to be in the church to see the
baptism. Then we found out we had the meeting on Friday, so we
moved it to Saturday. Then Friday after the meeting we did
divisions, I went to Realejo to do some interviews for some
people who were also preparing to be baptized. Then that night
a big rain storm came and did damage to the chapels electric
system, so the pump for the baptismal font was not working, so
we did not have water to do the baptism on Saturday. Luckily
the power was restored that night and we filled up the font so
she could get baptized the following morning right before
sacrament meeting. So Sunday morning we called her and her son
to tell them that all was ready for the baptism. </span></span></div>

they were doing work to the doors. That morning when we went
to get the baptismal clothes from a little closet that only
the missionaries have keys to, none of our keys worked! They
had accidentally switched the door knobs with the primary. So
we called the president of the primary to come running with
her keys so we could still do the baptism. We started the
baptismal service at 8:30 and finished right at nine, minutes
before their confirmation in Sacrament meeting. It was a
miracle that all worked out, they were so happy to be
baptized, it was awesome. Cant wait for you guys to meet them

Its been a great week, lots of sun and
even a bit of rain. I'm really sorry if my emails are sounding
the same, but really every week is really much like the last.
The biggest milestones are the baptisms though. Unfortunately we
have not baptized these last two weeks, but we have some really
cool investigators coming up. Some that we have been working
with for a while.
</span></span><br />

</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> Elder Hendrix is doing well, learning more and more
Spanish everyday. Its been so fun talking in English these
weeks, even though i know I'm going to miss speaking in Spanish
when I get home. Its really ironic, when you get to the
mission you want to speak in English because you cant speak
Spanish, but when you are finishing you love to speak it and
then you get sent home, where you cant anymore. Bittersweet. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> I want to talk to you guys about how great our lunch
appointment is. You have already heard about them (The ones
that had to move their house when the ocean rose). Last week
they made us some Nica cake (Torta) as a special gift. They are
so considerate to us, it feels like we are living in our own
home. The members here are the best. Only thing though, they
make me feel really trunky when they are watching the
Olympics, the other day they had the diving and volleyball on
in there house. The mother also washes our clothes, and
sometimes we get get extra garments from the family, haha. I
cant wait for you guys to meet them, the dad speaks a little
English, he is hilarious. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Hey fam, thanks for all the great news that you
have written, glad to hear that home is still home and not to
much has changed... I hope.
</span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> This week was really great. We have been working with a
bunch of people for a while and this week we worked really
hard to put baptismal dates in the weeks coming. Most of them
accepted a date, but are quite nervous about the goal. An
experience that was really cool this week was we taught a
lesson to an investigator her sister that is a member. We
talked about if she believes if the book of Mormon is true,
and if the church is true and if she feels like she needs to
be baptized. The spirit was so strong that she started to cry,
and put the baptismal date for the third of September. I am
really excited to see this investigator to get baptized,
because she reads above and beyond what we leave her in the
book of Mormon.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> The weather has been really hot this week. We got rain
at the beginning of this week, but just hot heat afterward. It
always looks like rain is coming, but the clouds just seem to
navigate around Corinto, leaving us with plenty of sunshine.
That's ok though, a little sun don't hurt. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> This week Stalin our convert received the priesthood, his
mom even invited us to lunch on Saturday. She normally sells
something called bough on Saturday, which is beef, yucca, and
cooked bananas. It was really good. She gave us so much though
that I could not finish it all. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> We had quite a miracle as well. At the beginning of
this week, a member who runs a tricycle for a living stopped
us to have us say a prayer for his cousin who was in the
hospital. Then later that week we were looking for a guy who
showed up to church with a member. This guy just so happened
to be the uncle of the girl who went to the hospital, and the
night we got to his house the girl just got back from the
hospital. Small world in Corinto. This family has once been
really associated with missionaries, so hopefully they will
progress. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">That's all for this week. The photo here is of us two at the
end of this giant rock spine that goes out into the ocean. The
other is with an English professor at church.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> This week I went to Managua to pick up my new trainee
missionary! It was a really long ride all the way from Corinto
to Managua. I stayed with Elder Mejia from Spain and we left
at three thirty in the morning to get to Managua at 9. We
thankfully arrived on time, and all was well. We then had a
four trainers meeting before we got to know our comps. Then we
joined the two groups of trainers and trainees together and
received the new missionaries. My comps is Elder Hendrix from
Georgia. Hes a really nice guy who loves martial arts and has
a southern accent. After the meeting a few buses took us back
to the bus terminal and we took the 4 hour bus ride back to
Chinandega. Before we got to Corinto the buses had ended so we
stayed the night with the zone leaders. They didn't have a lot
of fans so we slept outside on some mattresses, only to wake
up to a huge thunder storm that got me a little soaked! And
lightning that made the car alarms go off. We left to Corinto
the following morning and all was well. had a great week

baptism was also on his 13 birthday, so we had a party

was a really great experience. Hes really excited to get the

me, they make me smile every time! All is great here in Corinto!

</span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">First off, we had quite a miracle this week, we have been
teaching a mom and her daughter for the last month, and they
have been super awesome! They always went to church and had a
baptismal date. Then all of a sudden they didn't come to church
one week, and we could not find them in their house. We
thought they lost interest in the church and we stopped
visiting them. Then our friend Andres Brought them to the
church activity on Thursday, and they loved it. We talked
about their baptismal goal, which was in two days from this Thursday. She said it came really quick, but was really
excited for her baptism. They were both baptized on Saturday.
And seeing that she is from El Salvador, she wanted our zone
leader Elder Alvarado from Salvador to baptize her. He is
finishing his mission today, so it was his last opportunity to
baptize here in Nicaragua. The baptismal service was great.</span></span></div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Also, we had changes and guess who is going to Puerto
Cabezas! Elder Paau my companion! So i am going to stay here
and train a new missionary that's coming tomorrow to
Nicaragua. I believe his name is elder Hendrix. Its going to
be so great. In the meantime, I am chilling out with Elder
Mejia from Spain in Corinto. He is going to train as well. Im
really excited to train a Gringo! We will have to practice
lots of Spanish so he can learn quickly. </span></span></div>

I hope
that summer is super cool there at home! The photos of the
hiking trip are awesome, was it pretty cold up there at night?
It got a little cool here last Monday because it rained pretty
good, but then turned right back to the nice humid heat. I am
sure not going to miss the heat to much, but i will miss the
humidity, because your hands and lips never get dry here. </span></span><br />
<br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> This week we did divisions with Elder Alvarado and
Ferrin again. I went to work in Chinandega for the night which
was a blast. Elder Alvarado is from Salvador. He is a convert
of about three years and is finishing his mission this week
with Accordino, Shirlee, Monson and a ton of other
missionaries. We visited a lot of cool people and taught some
about the book of Mormon and others about the trinity. Other
Religions are really popular in Chinandega. There's all types
of them. Apostolic, Jehovas Witnesses, Adventists, Baptists,
and of course the Catholic Church as well. Our church is
fairly strong, there are three chapels in Chinandega, plus a
few more like here in Corinto and other surrounding areas. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> We had a sweet attendance this week of 151 people! The
most I have seen in Nicaragua! People were having to squeeze
in to find seats. It was so nice, because the attendance has
recently been a little low. There are so many less actives
here its crazy, but we have been working hard to invite them
to come to church again. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> Other exciting stuff is that Alison, our convert from last
week spoke in Church! She did such a great job, and for only
one week as a member she already knows so much about the
church. She says she wants to serve a mission. It helps that
she lives with a really active member as well. We should be
having some more baptisms in the future. There's a guy here
that has been going to church for a year straight that should
be getting baptized in a few weeks, we hope so.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">There's not much else to say, today we cleaned the house,
there's a ton of spiders everywhere, and always mice in our
garbage. Last night we ate dinner at a converts house, as we
were sitting, their pet kitten was sleeping at the side of the
house. Then out of nowhere two giant rats came running by the
side of the house and ran into the kitten. It was funny
because the rats are almost big as kittens here. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Brother Andres and Domingo have been working with us a lot
in these weeks, there such great guys. Andres brought
investigators to church like he does every week. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">All is great here, love you guys so much!</span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Well, this week was probably the
best one in Corinto. First off, we did divisions all the way to Somotillo. That
includes driving by the volcano Cristobal for an hour and a half in a small
micro-bus full of really sweaty people. It’s always and adventure. I worked
with an Elder from Ogden named Elder Cook and Elder Walker went to Corinto to
work with Elder Paau. We went and met some of their investigators and some
recent converts. It’s a nucleus there, so they only have like 20 members in the
whole town. All except two are recent converts. They have sure made a
breakthrough. I had the privilege to meet a guy who got baptized that will
probably the branch president when it becomes a branch. The guy is super
awesome and loves the church. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
</span></span><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
</span></span><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> Then we did divisions
later with an Elder Named Elder Mejia from Honduras in Corinto. He lived in
Spain for a few years before the mission, so he taught me a bit about Spain. It
was pretty fun. Lots of moving around in the bus and transportation this week. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> Best of all, On Friday
night we had a baptism! Alison is the cousin of a more recent convert named
Carla and is super happy to be a member. She says she wants to serve a mission
and is going to seminary now. The baptism went well, lots of people showed up,
and another youth named Amulek Baptized her as his first baptism he has done.
Then on Saturday we had an activity with the youth and we ate tacos together.
The bishop is really cool here and works hard with the youth. We did divisions
quite a few times this week with the youth and with some members. The photo in
front of the baptismal font are the members. The one that is squatting down is
the member Andres that works with us each day throughout the week.</span></span></div>

guys so much!</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> Well, we had the reunion with the new president this
week. His name is president Poncio, and he is really awesome.
He shook everyone's hand and asked us where we are from. He
was super excited for the work in the reunion and i cant wait
to work with him. Of course I still miss the Collados, but the
new president seems very kind as well. Hes from Guatemala, and
has two children, both like 17 and 15 years old. </span></span></div>

for one last time, like Elder Sirrine and Elder Shirlee. They
will all be leaving in three weeks from now, so I don't think i
will see them again. Maybe someday when they get married and
ill have to go to Arizona or Idaho to see their wedding. The
mission is sure changing fast, lots of my friends are on their
way out.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> This week was very successful in finding new
investigators. We have been teaching a sister called Allison
who lives with a super solid member named Carla. She should be
getting baptized this week. We also have had a lot of other
miracles this week with investigators. Like a sister that came
to church who was married and baptized, but not confirmed, so
we will have to baptize her again. And a mother and daughter
who both went to church. Therese a guy named David that is
super cool, but was working this week so was not able to go to
church this week.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">The family where we eat lunch moved their house yesterday,
the government told them there time was up and they would have
to move as fast as possible. We call him Papa Gordo and
they're such a great family. I'm so sorry that they have had
so many difficulties.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Andres and a brother called Domingo have been working with
us almost everyday, I can't believe how dedicated these members
are in this area.</span></span></div>

</span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> Today we had a beach activity here in Corinto. The waves a
really big, excellent to surf i would think, but no one surfs
here. The beaches are so different here than in Puerto
Cabezas, it's crazy. There clean with nice sand, big waves and
tons of sea shells. In Puerto they are very dirty. The weather
was really nice, so we didn't burn to bad. Then we went and
got some liquados, or smoothies. They are only a dollar here,
so that's really nice. </span></span></div>

</span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">That's it for this week, and as for going to Puerto Cabezas
i would be good either way, Its definitely not as nice as
Corinto, but it would be really cool to see everyone again. I'm
good either way. Love you guys so much. See you in two months!</span></span></div>

He shook everyone's hand and asked us where we are from. He
was super excited for the work in the reunion and i cant wait

ill have to go to Arizona or Idaho to see their wedding. The

miracles this week with investigators. Like a sister that came
to church who was married and baptized, but not confirmed, so
we will have to baptize her again. And a mother and daughter
who both went to church. Therese a guy named David that is
super cool, but was working this week so was not able to go to

Cabezas, it's crazy. There clean with nice sand, big waves and
tons of sea shells. In Puerto they are very dirty. The weather
was really nice, so we didn't burn to bad. Then we went and
got some liquados, or smoothies. They are only a dollar here,
so that's really nice. </span></span></div>

Thanks for all the emails, i never get tired of reading them,
even as time goes on. You might think that with time you would
get bored, but I feel like they keep me somewhat updated on
whats going on back home. I got an email from Elder Jacobsen
back in Nicaragua. He sent me some photos of the people that we
met in Tipitapa and Managua.

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> So the house was finally complete in the new location,
which was right in the middle of a walking path. Unfortunately
the government came and told them that they could not have the
house there and would have to move it. So one Thursday we
spent a few hours digging out the hillside where they will be
able to put their house. It was so hot, we were drenched in
sweat at the end of it. We wended up moving quite a bit of
dirt. We still have to dig more, but it was a good start. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> This week we did divisions with Elder Walker from South
Carolina. He works in an area that's super far away called
Somotillo, which is by the border of Honduras. We first took a
bus for 30 minutes to Chinandega, then another hour and a half
to get to his area. We go by this massive volcano called Mt
Cristobal. Its so tall it parts the clouds that go by. I don't
know if we could, but it would be an awesome adventure to go
climb it... I heard that there's a road that goes part way up.
The divisions were really fun, Elder Walker came to Corinto
and we had a great time.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> There is a member here called Andres who went and worked
with us everyday this week for six hours each day! He is so
awesome. He gives us a ton of references and helps us teach
all the time. We did divisions twice this week, so we have
been working really hard to help people come unto Christ. We
have worked really hard these two weeks and have found some
cool people, but we are still looking for baptisms. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Hey Family, thanks so much for the emails that you
have sent and for all the support as always. This week was been
really great. Lots of contacting and getting to know the port
town of Corinto.
</span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> Super exciting news, Noel who Elder Sirrine and I were
teaching since we started in Leon just got baptized this week.
Even though I was not there for the baptism, it sure made me
happy to hear that he was baptized. I know that some people
just take more time than others to prepare. I love seeing the
miracles that happen to people after they have felt the spirit
in their lives. He is sure one of my favorite people I have
thought in my mission. The other investigators that we left
behind there are getting ready for baptism as well.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">I did divisions this week in a place called Realejo between
Corinto and Chinandega. I went with an Elder called Elder
Gibbs from Georgia. It was really cool there, just a small
little pueblo. Funny thing, someone was shipping their cows in
a trailer full of cow poop. When we walked behind the trailer,
the cow kicked back and flung a ton of the cow poop, caking
elder Gibbs. Luckily he covered me from the crap, and he had
extra clothes back at the house. Then we went to a child's
baptism in Chinandega that he had been teaching the following
morning. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Corinto has had some record high tides over the past few
weeks. Over the past ten years the beach on Corinto has
receded about 500 meters back, its slowing dissolving away.
Due to these high tides recently, lots of the people are
having to find new places to live. Our lunch appointment
Christen or Papa Gordo as we call him had to move their house
this week, because the ledge down to their beach is creeping
closer and closer to their house. We have helped them twice to
move their house using a big cart to haul there belongings in.
This morning we went with them. The attendance in church
plummeted due to everyone working on their houses. There are
some big waves here in Corinto, but no one really swims.
There's actually a lot of people here that don't know how to
swim quite ironically. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Well, Corintos awesome! We have a member named Andres that
goes and works with us for a lot of the days. He never goes to
church alone either, he always brings his friends. The water
is so pretty here, nice and blue. Its a little like paradise.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Today we played a bunch of goofy games in Chinandega as a
zone. Then we went and ate lunch with a few of the other
missionaries. My really good friend Elder Walker is also in
Chinandega! It's pretty sweet to for him to be in my zone again
like back in the times in Puerto Cabezas. Love you guys so
much!</span></span></div>

We have a really amazing
family that is progressing a ton! We had a family night with
them and another family that lives nearby. The mom is a
schoolteacher and her 18 year old son works on a farm during the
week! Its the same family that invited us to dinner the other
week. We watched finding faith in Jesus Christ for the video,
its a really good one about believing in Christ even though we
cant see him. I think the family loved it, because they went to
church on Sunday as well!

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> This week we also went to hear president speak for the
very last time, which was pretty sad, but his advice was
really powerful. Everyone was a little emotional, it's so sad
to see him go, I am so lucky to have had him as a mission
president. I saw a bunch of my friends from earlier in my
mission there as well, Like elder Fairborne, Shirlee, Pilling,
and some other dudes. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> As you can see from my heading, We had transfers today. I
think this is going to be my last area. I'm now in a place
called Corinto, which is kind of like a peninsula to the main
land. There are tons of semi trucks here due to all the
shipping that comes in to this port town. We can see the beach
from our lunch appointments house, so that's really cool. I
have been so lucky to have such great areas in my mission. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

to see that you guys look pretty much the same. Hope the fair went well
for bubba d, and he sold his vaca (cow) for a good price. Lake Powell must
have been really fun. I heard from Sirrines family that it is really hot down in Arizona as well. It hit 118 where he lives, and in June as well.
</span></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /> This week we have had a lot of rain. Its for sure winter now, most
nights the thunder storms come in. We did divisiones again in Poneloya
this week. The bus ride is so beautiful, so much greenery and semi
tropical plants. Its not rainforest. but there is for sure no absence of
plant life. Poneloya was great, they baptised a family this week, so that was exciting. And when we retired to go to bed something amazing
happened. An Earthquake happened! The house shook a little bit, and you
could hear the tin roof shaking on top of the walls, but luckily it was
only a 6.1 magnitude, so very week. It was a little unnerving though,
because they live about 100 feet from the ocean, and i didn't want to be
hit by a tsunami. Luckily no tsunami came either.
</span></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /> We have been having a really hard time baptising, we have only baptised one person in my time in Leon, which is really bad. But, I think we found a wonderful family that will get baptised in these coming
weeks. Its the same family I told you guys about when all the lightning
storms were happening. The kids went to church this time and loved it. We are going to do a family home evening with them on Wednesday I believe. Yesterday they invited us to fish, which is a rel treat for
these people. The custom here is to eat fish that have been gutted and
scaled, then fried in the pan, so you have a nice fish head and fish
skeleton when finished. It was delicious.
</span></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /> Today we returned to the cathedral, but this time we went above on the roof, from the top you can see many surrounding volcanoes on the flat landscape. I is all white and very beautiful. I hope you like the
photos. You can see more on google. It is the largest Cathedral in
Central America!. Then we ate some smoothies afterward.
</span></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /> Well, I love you guys so much. Cant wait to see you soon. Changes are
next week, I really hope I don't go, I love it here and really want to see
them get baptised. I've only baptised two families out of puerto, and one
is already inactive. This family is going to be the best. Love you guys,
see you in a few months! </span></span><br />

Sounds like the weather you guys have been having is about
the same as here. We have had some really big rainstorms.
This Sunday we got pretty wet in the morning trying to invite
people to church. I'm so glad I got my hush puppy boots,
because I would have been soaked without them.
</span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> We contacted a guy at the beginning of this week, and
he said we could go visit him on Friday night. The rain
was really coming down, and it's culture here that the rain
will make you sick if you get wet. He was surprised to see
as at the door, he told us he couldn't believe that we
arrived. We taught a really spiritual lesson, continually interrupted by super loud thunder that shook the house. At
the end we invited them to be baptised, and they said that
they wanted to visit church before they made that
decision. It turned out that the son had to work, but the
mom came to church with some members that own a car. It
was so cool, because the members that picked her up worked
with her at a school as teachers! She was so excited in
church.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> Even with the weather, five of our investigators
still made it to church, which is still really good I
believe. The attendance plummeted though, only sixty
people in a ward that should be getting over a hundred
each week. Shows who's faithful right?. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> Today was the best, we had an activity at the stake
center which lies right in the middle of the market. We
did a bunch of goofy games like drinking coke the fastest,
or eating bananas the fastest. Then we ate some really
huge burgers. Huge as in bread that is. Burgers and
hotdogs here are famous for being all bread with a little
meat. That's probably why there so cheap. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> I also did divisions with my Zone Leader. Hes named
Elder Robinson from Some place in southern Utah. It was
really fun working in his area. The second pic is him and
I.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Well, I sure love you guys a lot. This time away has
sure helped me to see how great you really are. Some of
these families don't get along too well, I love how the
church helps families love one another. I can see such a
difference in the families of the church than those who do
not have christian lives. Thank you so much for your
examples to me. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">My comp received his itinerary, cant believe that us
two are almost there. Elder Sirrine only has 8 weeks left,
then I go one change later. See you in a little while,
Love you!</span></span></div>

Thanks for all the great emails as
always, that's always the best part of the week. Sounds like
everyone is having their own adventures. Hope that you are
enjoying the warmth after the cold winter.

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> This week we went to Chinendega for a multi zone
conference with president Collado. It was so great, i feel
like we learned a lot on how to be better missionaries. He
also talked about his departure that's coming in a few months.
I'm going to be really sad to see the Collado family leave. He
has been a great president from the start. Luckily I had him
for almost all of the mission. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> Elder Sirrine and I have worked really hard this week to
find some new families to teach. Those that we had are not
really progressing to well. We have had a really hard time
baptizing, but this week i think we will have one. We are
hopefully going to have a marriage and baptism if all goes
well.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> Today we went and played a game of soccer on some
AstroTurf courts. That's right, AstroTurf in Nicaragua! It was
by far the best fields i have seen here. We did a soccer game
between the missionaries. We had the companionship with an
Elder From the University of Utah soccer team, so we won. We
sweated so bad, my shirt was soaked. It was pretty gross, but
really nice afterward to take a shower.</span></span></div>

</span></span><div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> We did divisions again in Poneloya, when its not tourist
season there, its kind of a ghost town. We walk all day and
only pass a handful of people on the roads. Anyway it was
beautiful. In the morning we ran on the beach for exercise. We
also ate lunch at the house of some recent converts. We got
some pork chops that still had the skin and hair on it, so I
did not have to much of an appetite. That's kind of a delicacy
for these people here. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Well, the time left in the mission is passing really to
fast. I thought that when i started my mission I would never
finish, and I could not wait to finish. Now that has turned to
be the quite opposite really. I feel really nervous to end and
go back to the normal world. I have grown to love these people
so much, its going to be really sad to leave them.</span></span></div>

are both staying here in the Posada! I'm so excited. We did not
start out with many investigators, so we did not have much
success last change. This change is going to be different
though. We have some really great people that I believe will be
baptized this month.

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"> This we did a service project for a wonderful family we
are teaching. This family has just barely moved in to the
neighborhood and built their house out of some wooden poles,
sheets of metal, and some thick plastic. The dad works as a
tricycle driver ferrying people from one end of Leon to
another. I believe one Monday the rain finally came, and since
this family lives at the bottom of the street, lots of water
entered their house. So this week we built a large barrier out
of some roofing and a whole lot dirt. Hope that it works, we
will see shortly!</span></span></div>

have ever lived in Nicaragua, but due to his fame in Spanish
literary poems, I am almost sure you have never heard of him.
Ruben Dario is also the name of the neighborhood where we do 90
percent of our work. It a massive square divided into smaller
squares. Lots of cement houses and shacks made of metal plating
and plastic.
</span></span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">We had an awesome reference this week with a family of
four. The dad is not quite as positive, but the rest of the
family is so great. They were even going to come to church,
but the dad got home late and they did not have anyone to take
care of the house, so they didn't come.... Bummer. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Anyway we also have another investigator who hauls stuff
around the neighborhood using his horse. They sure get a lot
of use out of them, always pulling them around the streets
with their little wagons. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">This week I did divisions with my zone leaders to their
area closer to the center of Leon. It made me pretty homesick
because we walked in the woods for a while, and the river
there wasn't polluted like usually. The land is really dry
right now, the wet season doesn't start for another month, but
its already looking a bit more cloudier. There was also a pool
that people made in the middle of the woods fed by the river,
I don't think I would ever swim in it, but it would sure be a
great way to ditch this heat. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">My faucet works fine, no leakage. Nothing else has broken
since. We got an electric stove this week, so glad that we can
cook stuff know. Not that we need to cook much, the members
are so friendly here, we get a ton of food all of the time.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">We also went to Ponoloya, me ZL and I went to Ponoloya
again to do a baptismal interview. Its always really cool
there. We met a couple from France, and another guy named
Pablo from Spain. All the tourists here are really eccentric,
usually around 25-35 years old, if it's a guy he is sure to
have a beard, and usually looks like he could be from
Australia or the California beach. Really funny. Today we met
a guy named Patrick in the grocery story from California. He
thought Mormons were rich because of his trip to temple
square. haha</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></span>
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">
</span></span><div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Thanks for all of the letters and everything. I love you
guys so much!</span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">This week was another really great one. Our area is doing alright, we are looking hard to find people to baptise this week. There are some really cool people that are progressing and we hope will get baptized soon. Our area is called La Posada, or the Inn in English. It is really really big, so we sure get our exercise in walking. It also really dusty in parts, so a shoe brush is essential everyday after work. A horse died on the side of the road in the area and started to stink pretty bad, luckily some guys threw a bunch of tires on it and burned it away. Funny stuff. </span></span><br />

The beaches there were so good, soft sand, and not to much trash. Completely opposite from Puerto. I worked with Elder Familia from Dominican Republic. It was really hot, I got sunburned.... again. Its a really strange place. Reminded me of a ghost town because there arn't a lot of people like in my area. If you went to Nicaragua, i would definitely recommend Poneloya. </span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /> We also had interviews with President Collado, and a training workshop with the AP's and Sister Collado. I felt like I learned a lot on how I can teach better and be more organized. Even though I have a lot of time in the mission now, I know I can improve a lot. The workshop went long, so we didn't end up finishing until 8 at night so it took up most of the day. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />Last week a leak sprang up from the faucet heads in our house. It was a cheap one made of pvc pipe. I tried to twist it to tighten it, and the head broke off. Elder Sirrine tried to plug it with a plastic bag and totally soaked himself in his missionary clothes. I to the front door to ask a neighbor how to stop the water. We found the head valve and turned it off. Today I spent a time sawing off the broken part, and using pvc glue to put the new one on. Hope it worked, we will see today when we get home.<br /><br /> Don't know if you guys heard it on the news, but the pyrotechnic factory blew up really close to our area. We were walking Saturday morning and started to hear a few explosions in the distance. Then all of a sudden the fourth explosion really sounded like a volcano or something. The earth rumbled. We ran to the highway and could see the giant smoke cloud rising above the city. You could smell the black powder as well.<br /><br /> That's all of the exciting things that happened this week. Any time on mother's day after 4pm should be good for us to skype. What time would work best for you guys?</span></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11464385085906646264noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9102248442763206576.post-70115462562626816652016-04-12T10:43:00.000-07:002016-04-12T10:48:44.783-07:00MomoTombo<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

is a
blast. Thank you so much for all that you guys do for me and
for the letters
you send every week. I seen that the stake is doing a
newspaper about local
Peterson business. Its cool to see all the great stuff
happening. They made a
mistake though, it said that I was ZL in Leon which is not
true. lol. It is
great though to hear about the other missionaries though.
Even after knowing
them for a year, the members in Peterson are sure great
people. </span></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Leon has been so good these two weeks. I cant
believe how organized it is
here, and how much member help there is. This Sunday the
only thing I had to do
was pass the sacrament. We did not even have to teach in
Sunday School or anything. Our lunch appointment named Michael and Celen are
super fun and
helpful in the work. They were baptized when they were kids
and then got
married when older. Whats really funny is their siblings
also got married to
each other. So its two brothers that married two sisters.
Their dad is the
councilor of the ward. Ill have to take a photo with them to
send to you guys.</span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">This week we went to a place called MomoTombo.
Which is a really big
volcano that is situated on the side of Lake Managua. The
lake actually looked
really nice on this side, and there were people fishing
there as well. The sun
was really strong and we got burnt a little bit, but were
fine. We went to help
a guy get baptized. The church is really new there so they
congregate in the
old house of the Stake President. The baptismal font was a
giant metal box
filled to the brim. The stake president baptized him, really
cool that he came
all the way from Leon to help his friend get baptized. He
then took us back to
Leon in his truck.... Thank goodness, we did not want to go
on those hot buses
again for an hour and a half! </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Today we just hung out, and went and ate at a
burger joint. It funny how much stuff here is in English, there are a lot of Tourists and such. We are teaching a guy
named Freddy who has lived in Miami, Germany, and Nicaragua
all before the age of 21! He speaks fluent English, Spanish,
and German. </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">This Sunday was fast Sunday, I don't think I have
ever been so thirsty in my life. Puerto is cool compared to
here, so it was pretty hard. I think we seen some blessing
for it though, there's a member here who is pretty sick, so
we fasted for him. He seems to be doing better now.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Last night we ate dinner with the councilor in the
stake presidency. His wife made us pancakes for dinner, they
were excellent. </span></span></div>

everyone for sending your great emails this week and for all of your
love and support! This week has been one of the best in my mission for
sure.<br /><br /> I was really nervous to be sent to Leon, I heard it was really hot and harder to baptize, but the people here are so friendly, and it is really not to much hotter here than Puerto was. We left the airport in Puerto at around 12 oclock and got to managua around 1 oclock. Then the secretaries sent picked us up and we got the rest of our luggage that was waiting in the office, and they sent me off alone to Leon. Yeah, the church has a new policy on transfering missionaries, so I just went alone on the bus for a few hours, and when I got there around 8 at night, I was alone at the bustop. So I took a taxi to the church and got hold of a member to call the missionaries. It was quite a fun experience.<br /><br />I then went to my new area, or areas, we are currently working in two areas called la paz centro, and la Posada. I was so excited to find out that my companion is Elder Sirrine from Arizona. We were friends back in Managua, so it was really cool to see him again, and I am really excited<br />that he is my comp. Elder Sirrine has about the same time as I do in the mission, and is really fun to be around.<br /><br />La paz Centro is kind of like an old spanish pueblo, but with cars and electricity. La Posada in Leon is a little bit more busier. There are tons of really big cathiderals here by our area. This area is really rich compared to what we saw in Puerto. Lots of gringos walking around, the other day we contacted a guy from Canada. Its really touristy here. I like it a lot, we have running water, and the power never goes out, so its a big blessing.<br /><br />We have a couple of really cool invewstigators from both areas. We did not have time to visit a lot of people from paz centro this week, so only a few came all the way from there to leon for conference. It is about 45 minutes between our two areas. President told us to focus on our area here in Leon, but to still visit theose who are progressing there in Paz Centro.<br /><br />Sorry I dont have my camera, I left it back in the house on accident in La paz centro, I promise i'll send photos next week. Love you guys so much.<br /><br />I got to watch conference this weekend in English! Its a stake here in Leon, so the church is really developed. Afterward, our lunch lady made food for the missionaries and a bunch of other families. The members here are really hard working and helpful. Its really different in that way from Puerto. I think it is because Leon has had the missionaries for a longer time.<br /><br />Love you guys, have a great week!</span></span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11464385085906646264noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9102248442763206576.post-40814210301392965002016-03-29T12:09:00.001-07:002016-04-12T10:23:50.761-07:00Move to Leon<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">We received a short email from Sam today.
